”Who Knows Where Butterflies Die” is an allegory written by Dr. Pasha Parvaneh Hashemi.  It tells the story of Butterfly who is a beloved child of fairly enlightened parents.  She is loved and adored and petted by her parents, her siblings, and all who know her.  As a young teenager she decides that she wants to move to another country and away from her home, Farawayland.  She wants to see the world outside, to experience freedom.  Once she follows this dream, things go very wrong back in Farawayland and she wants to go home, but she can’t.  She struggles to try to get home and find out what has happened to her family.  She has many challenges and meets many people along her journey.

In her writing, Hashemi shows her concern for our world and how we are treating it.  It shows her concern for the rights and freedom of human beings.

The writing is strong and flows.  The characters are interesting and the reader will be caught up in Butterfly’s journey.

Who Knows Where Butterflies Die … is a must read if we want to create a joyful and peaceful world. Pasha Parvaneh Hashemi shares the moving story of Butterfly as she and her family find their way in a world that is increasingly taken over by greed, fear and controlling forces. We may want to think these destructive activities happen in other places, however, the reality is we are all subject to forces that have the potential to take away our freedom. Butterfly inspires us to take responsibility for the world we are creating by our action and inaction.
